The What's your brideprice/dowry Test

1. Hi! And welcome to my What's your brideprice/dowry Test. In many different cultures and from a variety of places, money is exchanged between the families of the two people getting married. The 'price' if affected by a number of variables, but is almost universally linked to the physical and social attractiveness of both partners and their family. In effect, the brideprice (paid by the family of the male to the family of the female)/dowry (paid by the family of the female to the family of the male) operates as a free-market mechanism that gives a monetary value to a person. That's why it's been banned in China! Obviously this test is somewhat tounge-in-cheek - I'm sure you're worth a great number of farm animals and a significant mass of gold to the right person! So, how much could you expect to be offered in exchange for your hand in marriage?
