The Liberty Test

  1. Are there any ideologies or schools of thought that are openly against freedom? They all seem to be for it. If one says the police should be very small it is because of freedom of privacy but if someone else says the police should be big, it is to protect freedoms from crime. If someone says wealth distribution should be based on need it is because of the freedom of developing your own enjoyment of work and not be subjected to poverty but then someone says the complete opposite, saying wealth should the distributed on the basis of merit to give people freedom to work hard to earn money and have responsibility for their own actions. What exactly is freedom? Having completely nothing in your way? Having somebody to step in and protect your freedom? Everyone seems to be for it. Is that possible? Well, this test hopes to answer these questions and measure your attitude to liberty. We are all for it, but what sort of liberty are you after? What is more important? The liberty from something or the liberty to do something? There are two variables, positive and negative liberty. The freedom to and the freedom from. Max positive and negative is anarcho communism, minimum positive and negate is fascism, max positive and minimum negative is totalitarianism and max negative and minimum positive is anarcho capitalism. The 12 other categories were somewhere in between those four corners. How do you respond to what all politicians promise...liberty?
