About The Author
I love animal tracking, high quality information, emergency medicine, freedom and [[Earth]].
Seeing as you're familiar with 4/5ths of the things I just mentioned, I'll explain tracking.
There's one word in the Apache language for both "tracking" and "awareness"; they can't exist without each other.
I track when wilderness caretaking or gardening to know the animals of the area and their needs. Regenerative Design Institute, out of Bolinas, teaches it as an integral part of their permaculture courses. They've realized that to maximally benefit a ecosystem; enough that it feeds you as well: you must know and care take the local animals.
"All marks are tracks." -Tom Bron Jr.
Eventually one finds they have much more trouble differentiating the slew of tracks they see, than seeing a track. Try this: hold the nearest book up and have the light source reflect off of its surfaces, moving it around in your hands. See all those scratches and fingerprints? Tracks.
Principals:
1. Keep the track between yourself and the source of light!
2. Keep the track between yourself and the source of light!
3. View the track at a SHARP ANGLE and have the source of light at a SHARP ANGLE!
4. Have the source of light at a SHARP ANGLE and view the track at a SHARP ANGLE!
If you live a near a river or the ocean: you are in luck! Go there and look at the sand. All master trackers began tracking in wet sand. Look at a mark, any mark and ask yourself:
What happened here?
What is this telling me?
