Contrary to popular belief this sport is run world-wide including the "lower-48" not just Alaska. There are clubs through-out the United States, and it is gaining popularity year after year. This particular race, the "Iditarod", happens to be the longest, harshest, most grueling dog-sled race in the world. 1,049 miles run in just under 9 days.
