Most of us would know the good old spelling chestnut "i before e except after c". I used to think that was all there was to it, until one day in Grade Six I stumbled across a word that didn't fit the rule, excitedly announcing my discovery to the class and my teacher - thinking I was some kind of literary genius - only to have them look dryly at me and say "Duh. It's only when the sound is eeeeeee, stupid".
So, embittered by my primary school experience, I am lashing out at the world by creating this most awesome EYE BEFORE EEE test.
Have fun :)
P.S. Since those early days I've discovered the rule is essentially "i before e, except after c, when the sound is eeeee, or when it's a strange word that doesn't fit into this rule".
