The Are You Weird Enough? Test

  1. Good evening. Welcome to my Den of Iniquity. Have you ever wondered if other people thought you were weird? Do you have bizarre habits? Perhaps you're just easily amused. If so, this test should be very interesting to you. Let me just say before we begin that "weird" is a subjective term. However, I extremely dislike its supposed opposite, that pestilential plague of a concept: "normal." I think it implies that there are people in this world who are exact copies of each other, and that we are all supposed to fit inside the neat little box of "normal." The so-called normal people are accepted and squished into their normal box, while freaks like me are left on the outside, looking in at the world. This concept of normal is a social construction, and in this context, that translates into layman's terms as "total crap." I believe that there is weird in all of us, and if there is such a thing as a normal person, I have certainly never met one. There may be sane people, but not normal people. Maybe the people in mental institutions are the only real sane people, and the rest of us are just stark raving mad. I'm not sure who first suggested that, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who calls themself normal is really just a weirdo in denial. Also, I dislike the word "normal" because I have a rare form of synesthesia (a rare psychological confusion of the senses that occurs in about 1 out of 1,000 individuals) called geusologia, which causes me to associate certain tastes with certain words, and believe me, "normal" tastes too terrible to describe. I guess it tastes sort of like a balloon covered in cough syrup. However, I think "sublime" tastes like key lime pie, and "numina" tastes like cinnamon. Needless to say, I enjoy reading Borges because his words are so choice and tasty. But enough about my own weirdness. Let's talk about yours. Onward with the test!
