2. So what is it with everyone else and New Yorkers? I swear, if one more person backs away from me because they learned I grew up there, while saying nervously, "But you're so nice ..." If you prick a New Yorker, do we not bleed? Most of us, anyhow. After some thought, I have come to believe that NYC quality that most scares and outrages the rest of the country is a cynical, smart-ass attitude. In other words, New York is a state of mind, just like the song says. So maybe YOU could be a New Yorker too, even if it's just a dirty little secret in your heart of hearts... so take it and snicker. Or else.
