Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale is a questionaire to assess the range of social situations that an indivdual may fear or avoid. It is designed to be used by a health care professional in conjunction with other diagnosis tools. If you score highly on this test it does *not* mean you are definitely socially phobic. If you take the test several times over a period of time and score high values then I would suggest consulting with your doctor. The test is very sensitive to your interpretation of the questions which is why it really needs to be administered by a professional who can judge your responses.
I have added this test for me to easily take the test, track my scores and decide whether to consult with my doctor.
If you decide to take the test, your answers should only be affected by your behaviour in the last week. There are 24 situations with two questions each. The first question is about the level of fear you feel in the situation and the second is how often you avoid the situation.
The values for the avoidance questions are normally taken to mean
- Never - 0% of the time
- Occasionally - 0-33% of the time
- Often - 33 - 66% of the time
- Usually - 66-100% of the time
