2. Rail travel has long been something of a bastard child of American transportation. While Europe, China, and Japan built high-speed train lines capable of speeds of up to 250 mph, United States allowed most of its extensive passenger rail infrastructure to languish and deteriorate for over 40 years. However, this is likely to change very soon. Passenger rail (mainly Amtrak) is getting an investment of tens of billions of dollars as part of the stimulus package, and as many as 10 urban corridors may get federal funding to construct high speed rail.

           With this in mind, this is a timely test of your knowledge of Amtrak and its operations. It consists of 25 questions of varying difficulty. All captioned photos featured in this quiz were taken by me. Enjoy!
