About 2/3 of the way down the alley, you freeze. At the other end there is a police car blocking the way. You turn around, but the two cops chasing you are the other side of the alley. You are trapped.
The police draw their guns and yell at you to put your hands behind your back. You do as they say, but Paulo starts yelling something in Portugese. While continuing to talk in Portugese, Paulo reaches his good hand into his pocket. Seeing this, one of the officers opens fire and hits Paulo in the chest. With his hand still in his pocket, Paulo falls to the ground.
The officers call for an ambulance, but it is clear that it will arrive too late. Blood is spilling out of Paulo. He turns to face you and utters one last message. "Goodbye, my angel of road." he says, and closes his eyes. Meanwhile, the police officer removes Paulo's hand from his pocket. He does not find a weapon. All that is in there is a now bloody picture of Paulo with a woman and two children.
You are arrested and taken into custody. After questioning you further, the police decide not to press charges against you for your role. You ask an officer why they were trying to arrest Paulo, and all he tells you is that Paulo was wanted for his role in hundreds of murders in Portugal. You never find out anything more.
